QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
HOW LONG IS THE THERAPY PROCESS?
It is important to remember that therapy is a marathon and not a sprint. As much as we know it is a financial investment, we need to be reminded that we are working on re-wiring the brain which can take time. We like to work in the time frame of 6 – 8 months although this differs from child to child.
DO YOU ACCEPT MEDICAL AIDS?
Yes we do! We will submit the claim to the medical aid on your behalf.
WILL THIS GET BETTER?
This is a hard one to answer and we tell parents the following: You have made the brave step to come for the assessment and this right here, will be our baseline, our beginning. We promise to do everything in our power to ensure that your child reaches
his/her full potential, and we will be holding your hand every step of the way.
WHAT LANGUAGE MUST THERAPY BE IN?
We recommend that therapy is performed in the language of tuition eg. If your child goes to an Afrikaans school, the assessement should be in Afrikaans
WHY MUST MY CHILD DO SPEECH THERAPY HOMEWORK?
We recommend that parents regularly complete their child’s homework as this facilitates carry over between what is done in the
therapy to the home environment.
